Banquete is a seafood restaurant located in Paranaguá, a coastal city in southern Brazil. Originally operating as a delivery business, the restaurant sought a visual identity to support the opening of its first physical location while preserving its existing logo.
The project focused on creating a flexible visual system capable of extending the brand beyond the logo, translating the restaurant's coastal roots, contemporary cuisine, and welcoming atmosphere into a distinctive identity across both print and digital touchpoints.
With the logo already established, the challenge was to develop a cohesive identity that could strengthen the brand without replacing its most recognizable asset. The new visual language needed to reflect Banquete's connection to the sea, its regional influences, and the personality of the chef while remaining versatile enough to support menus, packaging, signage, and branded materials throughout the restaurant.
Rather than relying on conventional nautical imagery, the concept was built around the restaurant's own context. Located within a marina overlooking Paranaguá Bay, Banquete naturally carries a strong relationship with the surrounding landscape and local gastronomy.
This connection inspired a visual language that combines marine references with ingredients featured on the menu, creating an identity that feels authentic to both the place and the dining experience. Local geography also informed the project, with graphic elements influenced by the city's map and coastline, reinforcing the restaurant's regional character.
The graphic system was designed to create a playful yet refined brand experience. Custom illustrations derived from key ingredients, including fish, octopus, and pork, establish a recognizable visual vocabulary that can expand naturally across different applications.
A custom pattern, developed from these illustrations, brings rhythm and texture to printed materials such as wrapping paper and packaging, while allowing the identity to remain expressive without competing with the logo.
The color palette translates the restaurant's "Surf & Turf" concept through a balance of cool blues inspired by the sea and warm earthy reds and browns that reference the land. A vibrant yellow introduces contrast and energy, adding a youthful, coastal character to the brand.
One of the project's most memorable outcomes came from a spontaneous sketch of a sardine created during the development process. Originally intended as an illustration study, it quickly became the restaurant's unofficial mascot after resonating with the client.
The character was later incorporated across menus, drink cups, digital communication, and other branded materials, becoming a recognizable element of Banquete's identity and strengthening the brand's presence beyond its visual system.
