Mamatcha is a conceptual branding project exploring the creation of a contemporary matcha house inspired by gardens, tea rituals, and sensory experiences. Imagined as a destination rather than a traditional café, the brand invites visitors to slow down, reconnect with their surroundings, and experience matcha through moments of intention.
The project explores how visual identity can shape atmosphere, translating calmness, craftsmanship, and hospitality into a cohesive and immersive brand universe.
As matcha continues to gain popularity, many brands adopt similar minimalist aesthetics rooted in Japanese references. The challenge was to create a distinctive identity that felt refined and contemporary while avoiding visual clichés.
Rather than emphasizing minimalism alone, the project sought to balance elegance with warmth, building a brand experience that feels memorable, welcoming, and rich in detail.

The concept draws from the quiet beauty of historic gardens and tea ceremonies, where architecture, nature, and ritual coexist to create spaces of contemplation.
Mamatcha imagines a tea house where gastronomy and nature become part of the same experience, a place designed not simply to serve matcha, but to encourage people to pause, observe, and enjoy the ritual surrounding it.

The visual identity is built around a custom symbol inspired by the ornamental ironwork found on gates and garden entrances of historic homes. Reinterpreted through organic and symmetrical forms, the symbol combines botanical references with architectural details to create a mark that feels timeless, delicate, and distinctive.

This symbol becomes the foundation of the broader visual system. Patterns, graphic assets, and supporting applications are all derived from its geometry, creating a flexible identity capable of extending naturally across packaging, stationery, signage, and brand collateral.

A restrained color palette and refined typography reinforce the project's sophisticated character while allowing textures, materials, and photography to contribute to its rich sensory atmosphere.
Although conceptual, Mamatcha demonstrates how branding can transform an abstract feeling into a tangible visual experience. The project explores the creation of a complete brand ecosystem where every element contributes to a cohesive narrative of ritual, hospitality, and connection with nature.
